How Actual Smart People Talk About Themselves

This is an article from The Atlantic… Hint: not by discussing IQ The I here is James Fallows… although I tend to agree with him. this is a companion article to my previous article on self-esteem…

If you just want to know what people who are actually smart think of themselves… talk about themselves, jump there…

I’ve never met or interviewed Donald Trump, though like most of the world I feel amply exposed to his outlooks and styles of expression. So I can’t say whether, in person, he somehow conveys the edge, the sparkle, the ability to connect, the layers of meaning that we usually associate with both emotional and analytical intelligence.

But I have had the chance over the years to meet and interview a large sampling of people whom the world views the way Trump views himself. That is, according to this mornin

Do you feel responsible for what others say about you?

Soul correction, responsibility, what is yours and what is not

First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt said it best: what others think about me is none of my business.

For most this is the hardest thing to learn.

We grow up in a family or community that consider their “sacred duty and honor” to call us names, to assign responsibility to us.

They treat their pets more fairly. They allow the pet to do what pets do… but don’t give the same rights to humans, children.

From the limited perspective of the human mind… why you make so many mistakes??

Most authors, most gurus, most spiritual/money/prosperity/marketing teachers contributed one distinction to me… if any.

Actually, most didn’t… Famous ones, successful ones, amazing ones… nothing. I was left with nothing.

One of these distinctions, by Robert Scheinfeld, is considering that all you see when you look is through the limited

Who am I and what gives me the right to write about Kabbalah

kabbalahchick is Sophie Benshitta, aka Maven SophieGood question, right? You were just about asking that… Gotcha!

OK, simple question, simple answer.

First I tell you what I am not:

  • I am not a Kabbalist. Kabbalists study, practice, and teach Kabbalah full time, for many many years. It could be even said that being a Kabbalist is like an insider… you need to be appointed.
  • I am not a teacher of Kabbalah
  • I am not a guru
  • I am not someone who knows a lot about Kabbalah but doesn’t live it.

OK, then what am I?

Well, I was first introduced to Kabbalah by a friend of mine (who is accidentally out of my life now… but more about it later.) My introduction happened by

Who or what is in power in your life. You or something or someone else?

March is a survival month. I have been observing it for 30 years. If a business can make it past March, then it will make it another year. This is due to people’s (the buyers who keep business in business) … Continue reading → Related Posts: You send for a vibrational reading. I send it […]

Can your vibration be high if you live on the Tree of Knowledge, where every word has its emotional load? Can you be free? Can you be happy?

I had a “Talk to Me webinar” yesterday. I have it every month, on the last Wednesday of the month. This type of webinar is question and answer. I have no agenda. I learn more from unstructured conversations than from … Continue reading → Related Posts: Turning Points Part 2: commit to life You Cannot […]

You can’t have a Self until you stop… stop what? Sophie

I had the most interesting and unexpected thing happen to me this morning. Some Hungarian sounding person signed up to my next Feelings webinar on Sunday at noon, so I checked. Yes, she is a Hungarian woman living in Hungary. … Continue reading →

Sadness. Tree of Life, Tree of Knowledge… more about what gives you what kind of life

I just exchanged emails with the author of the Feelings book, Gyozo Margoczi.

Gyozo means Winner, or Victor in Hungarian… someone who wins over something or someone.

My name: Sophie, means Wisdom.

Names can be taken two ways:

  • 1. you are that
  • 2. you need to become that

He wrote the books. Major accomplishment. Big win… mostly like a tree falling in a forest that didn’t make a sound because there was no one to hear it… until I came along.

Now I am taking what I learned from him, and still learn through the emails, and I am running with it.

He is stuck in his 9-5, family, financial obligations.

I have only one job: this.

I wrote to him saying that it seems it is m

The secret to happiness is wanting what you have

When I look back at my life, I find that the way to get ahead in life, the way to amass knowledge, the way to grow is through wanting what you have… and more of it.

Curiosity, the word, means something different for different people.

The low vibration person looks outside of themselves for something pleasant to titillate them.

The high vibration person looks inside of themselves for something pleasant they already have experienced and they can have more of if they want to.

If you look at my life you may come away with the insight that if you sleep very little, and when you are awake you work, then you’ll be “whatever you say about me”.

I am nearly 70 years old. I slept an average five hours a night. Many years th

Infantile will to power… or how you dampen the fire that motivates you to grow

I came up with the expression “top 10% of your mind” many years ago, when I was teaching the What Color of Your Parachute workshop.

It is said that you only use 5% of your brain. But, of course, you use all of your brain most of the time, but not for something worth using a precision instrument even the stupidest person possesses.

The truth is that 99% of your usage, what you see, what you say about what you feel, what you think is not new, and not accurate and not worth thinking, because it leads to no benefit.

I have students that make this phenomenon very easy to observe.

If you put all their posts together, take out the repetitive stuff, you end up with
