More on the latticework on which you hang new knowledge to become worth a damn

Latticework can be likened to a Christmas Tree.

I once had a boy friend who bought tree ornaments as gifts every Christmas. Even to people who didn’t have a tree… ;-/

One of the barriers to real knowledge, I have found in my students, is compartmentalizing.

The opposite of compartmentalizing is the integrative approach…

I first saw this phenomenon in 1988, when i first read the famous book, What Color Is Your Parachute.

The core of that book is completely wasted on 99% of the readers. The core that talks about portable, transferable skills.

The reason people don’t get it, because they cannot see the integrative aspec

A price tag on any coaching or any course is a lie

I had an interesting insight this morning.

Putting a price tag on any coaching is going to be a lie. My strategy sessions. My 67 step coaching. My health consultations. My Water Energizer. My Heaven on EArth…

Really, almost any product.

For two reasons:

1. the value is in the eye of the buyer…
2. the value literally changes with what the buyer can and will do with it.

The client needs to become ready to use the coaching and generate big value with it. ((Cooking recipes come to mind. Unless you know cooking without recipes, unless you develop a feel for what works together, every recipe will be a disaster for you.

Here is an example.

How to get your brain to read?

How to Get Your Mind to Read ((article by Daniel T. Willingham (@DTWillingham) is a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia and the author, most recently, of “The Reading Mind: A Cognitive Approach to Understanding How the Mind Reads.” Republished from the New York Times

Americans are not good readers. Many blame the ubiquity of digital media. We’re too busy on Snapchat to read, or perhaps internet skimming has made us incapable of reading serious prose. But Americans’ trouble with reading predates digital technologies. The problem is not bad reading habits engendered by smartphones, but bad education habits engendered by a misunderstanding of how the mind reads.

Just how bad i

Fighting windmills? No time to do good stuff, let alone great stuff?

I just learned something terrible about myself. A lot of people hear me as if I were their father.

You see, in my family I was the dunce… meaning stupid. And even though I had straight A grades, and I was good at everything I tried, I remained stupid for my family.

How this works I don’t know. But this seems to be the dynamic: people make a decision about you, and then they never really look at you again.

You take it on, as the truth, and freeze into it. You allow it to guide you through life.

With me it was a little different, because I am defiant. I am not defiant to the person who speaks it, I am defiant to the saying. I am going to prove them wrong.

My brother, my older brother was the

I don’t think you understand how humans are “designed”!

You are born with potentials but no skills. Even breathing is a skill you need to learn. Skills are the atoms of actions. Each action, like a molecule is built of atoms, each activity is made of parts that we …

Everything you ever wanted comes to you through people

Many of my students and clients have a tough time dealing with people. No amount of technical skills, no amount of business savvy, no amount of education matters much if you are not able to get along, and communicate with …

Are you experiencing the “post holiday blues”?

In life, victory goes to the most adaptable… says the law of self-selection. The easiest to observe is yourself… when there is a long enough holiday: 4-day holidays are perfect. If you get into the holiday mood: doing pretty much …

How do you know if you have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset? And how do you get out of the fixed mindset, really?

I doesn’t matter what you think you believe. I am starting to notice that what you say you believe is one thing, what you actually believe is expressed a lot more truthfully in your actions and in your reactions. One … Continue reading “How do you know if you have a fixed mindset or a […]

When the mind takes over perception: you see only what the mind allows you to see
