My Weight Story Through Sexuality And Sexual Abuse

There are a few kinds of fatties out there.

There is the glutton. He eats because it tastes good. He eats with great gusto, and enjoys every bit of it.

Then there is the fatty who eats because life isn’t all it promised to be. It is not interesting enough, not loving enough, not fun enough. These fatties eat out of boredom. Even the food doesn’t taste good enough, but it keeps them bottled up, and keeps them from going for life, full tilt boogie… they don’t need to confront their fears, their anxieties, their insecurities, or other people that want to keep them down.

In some respect I do belong to this second group. But I have another aspect… which takes me to the third group of fatties:

These fatties have a problem with themselves and their bodies. They were made feel less than perfect as a child, less than a person. Probably they were sexually abused. ((I’d like to mention here that becoming fat isn’t the only way sexual abuse victims react to the abuse and the guilt. The experience is that you are not deserving, that you are less than dirt, unclean, so habits of drugs, smoking, alcohol are frequent in women with a history of sexual abuse, because under the influence you feel better about yourself. Another reaction is being an underachiever. And yet another reaction is becoming a blaming machine, justifying everything with what happened to you, blaming the people that didn’t protect you. This is the rarest reaction, in my experience, but don’t be fooled by it sounding reasonable: each of these reactions cost quality of life, self esteem, joy, love, respect, dignity… no exception. None are better than others))

Sexual abuse can range from being touched, seemingly innocently, but with sexual fantasies.

A grown up thinks that their dreams, their thoughts are purely theirs, but it is not so. Everybody perceives your thoughts on an unconscious level, but children actually hear them, as if you said them out loud.

So even if the adult’s actions aren’t inappropriate, their thoughts are considered abuse.

Then there are the touchers, then the ones that want the child to touch them, touch another child, and then it goes to the all out use of the child as if they were an adult with the capacity to consent, the capacity to say no, the capacity to set boundaries.

They don’t.

My story: the summer before my fourth birthday…
