Learning to Learn on Coursera.org

Learning to Learn on Coursera.org, the missing piece of the puzzle, especially if you combine it with the Playground: the partner calls, and the skill learning challenge.

I’ve completed the first two weeks of study on coursera, with 99% effectiveness measured by the tests: only two mistakes total.. But did I learn the material? ((I am finding that I am still having some issues with the vocabulary, so no, I haven’t))

Why didn’t I take a whole week to do a week’s worth of study?

I am like a person who after weeks lost in the desert, finds good drinking water… Hungry, thirsty, excited. Continue reading

Is negativity in the words, or somewhere where it is hidden from the speaker’s point of view?

In Aldous Huxley’s book, Brave New World, written 88 years ago, we see all the elements of humanity being a puppet, unable, unwilling, incapable to face reality today, in spite of the fact that natural birth is still the norm.

If you haven’t read it, here are the salient points of the book: in the time the story plays out, natural birth was discouraged, although sex was rampant. Birth was in vitro… in tubes.

The embryos were brought up in five different conditions, creating castes, Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas and Epsilons… if I remember correctly.

Alphas were individuals, Betas were clones, Gammas were hundreds from one egg, etc.

They were also fed differently: Alphas were fed nutrients, Betas: less nutrients, some poisons, and Gammas’s mostly poisons that effected their brain only.

The straitjacket of your identity

The identity you invented is preventing you from living the life you want ((I could have written about many more ways one defines one’s identity… When an actor is pigeonholed in a type of role they did well… the bad guy, the guy with the guile… Or when a person is only seen as their occupation… a teacher, a mechanic, a janitor, a politician… and need to deal with the limiting options that gives them and their life. Also the role: mother, father, daughter, son… the relationship between those identities is scripted, but isn’t anything more than a straitjacket… but this article is about the identity traits you invented… And doesn’t claim to be complete.

I just stumbled on a New York Times article that looks at identity but only at its above the waterline part… and knows nothing, doesn’t even suspect the iceberg that is below the water.

It’s not a bad article, but like always when you ignore the big picture, ignore the invisible, you are pandering to the popular culture, the same one that keeps you in bondage.

If you are not in the Playground, and want a copy of that article, please email me at sophie at yourvibration.com and say you want a copy of that article.

Playground students will find it posted on the membership site… in a few minutes…))

What identity? you ask.

That person you deeply believe that you are. The good person, the helpful person, the nice person…

Or the superman
Or the intelligent, well spoken person
Or the smart person…
Or the humble person…

But there are questions, because those same identity traits are at the root of some of your complaints, so there is a disharmony somewhere. Continue reading

3 reasons you aren’t doing what you say you will do

You can learn nearly anything on the internet if you know how to learn.

And yet, if you look, people don’t learn much, don’t do much, and the momentary excitement, the big promises die almost as fast as they were born, leaving the promiser frustrated, and puzzled why they can’t keep their word, and actually do what they said they would do. Continue reading

Getting Everything You Can Out Of All You’ve Got… how much would that everything be?

The culture of Approximately

It’s taken millions, maybe even billions of years to evolve into a species that is 99% corrupted into believing that to get something it is enough to wish to.

For me this was invisible for a long time…

The first glimpse I got was when I first heard about satsang… a group of devotees sitting around a dude or dudette and attempt to absorb their whatever… vibration, peace, knowledge… all things that you cannot fully absorb, because they need to be worked for.

My parents weren’t wearing those distorting glasses. ((Partly because that generation still knew that to get something you need to work for it. Partly because of the Jewish emphasis on learning.)) Continue reading

Your eyes may be bigger than your stomach… Build on your strengths

Your eyes may be bigger than your stomach… Build on your strengths

One of the happiest turn in my life was when I fully turned away from architecture.

I started architecture school in 1966. I, unknowingly, chose that profession, because my mother wanted to be an architect, but could not, because of the Jewish Laws that came in in 1938, limiting the number of Jewish students at universities.

I didn’t know that I was an empath and I felt my mother’s feelings instead of my own… and she felt strong desire towards architecture. Continue reading

Telling the truth will set you free. The counter-intuitive path to happiness

Most people won’t adhere to a diet that would make them healthy.

Stupidity? Yes, stupidity on a very deep selfish gene level. ((The selfish gene is not interested in you being happy, fulfilled, feeling connected, or even healthy.

If you have been eating crap, and still can copulate, the selfish gene says: OK, he is alive, he can procreate, good. Let’s continue with the program.

If you have been a user, a taker, a parasite, never accomplishing anything… the selfish gene will say: good… Let’s continue with the program.

Some cultures call this the ego, but there is a basic and fundamental difference between these two: the ego does have energy, forceful and strong, that is pulling upwards… In the Tumbleweed article, Ego, the triangle sitting on its side is stronger than the “spirit” that is standing on its point, yet you need the strength of the “ego” triangle to get anywhere…

I even teach somewhere how to whisper to the ego to help you overcome the pull of the Selfish Gene that wants you to continue what keeps you miserable, small, and limited to a survival machine.))

It’s NOT that they don’t understand the price they are paying.

It’s that they make choices that the genes are making: not making waves, not bringing attention to themselves, not being different, fitting in is more important than being healthy, having energy, feeling good, calm, being intelligent.

Almost everything “social” is gene directed. I say “almost” because I am humble. I don’t know any social that is NOT gene directed, but there could be, maybe.

So what do the selfish genes want?

Indulging in emotions and thoughts is the favorite pastime of the unproductive

I measure this in the Starting Point Measurements. The measure is called: “To what degree you honor your emotions as reality?”

Emotions are like the hood ornament, the painted decorations, the wheel whatever shiny things on a car. They have nothing to do with where the car is going, how the car is driving, the only things that matter.

And yet, when you observe people, they hang out there, and their life passes them by. Continue reading

Why can’t you copy the same exact thing a billionaire does, and get the same result?

  • What is the difference between people who make a lot of money, and people who don’t,
  • people who have good family life, and people who don’t,
  • people who have good health and people who don’t?

I watched a video on which a dude played the same exact tunes on three different violins.

The link to the video was on Digg, and the editor said that they, in Digg’s office, didn’t hear much difference.

I did. One violin’s sound brought tears to my eyes… it was so incredibly resonant, and beautiful. ((

Integrity, integration, creating or embracing? What’s missing for you to escape the human condition of the horizontal plane?

No matter who you are, no matter how high is your vibration, one thing is certain about you: you bring a skewing, slanted, distorting view to life, to every question you ask, to every answer you get.

I just caught myself… and I’ll share it with you… even though it is quite terrifying to get naked with you.

I have a very limited number of food items on my diet. It’s not bad, but occasionally I’d like to drink a nice cup of tea, and Source has been consistently saying “no” to that.

It is one thing to obey… but it is definitely easier to obey an instruction that you know why it is what it is. Continue reading
